1. Bowie’s final album Blackstar was meant to be a parting gift to fans
On Bowie’s 69th birthday, January 8, his album Blackstar was released. A video for the song “Lazarus” was also debuted. He died only two days later.
Today, Bowie’s producer revealed that David Bowie knew for a year that his cancer was incurable, and described Blackstar as his “parting gift.”
The song opens with the lyrics “Look up here, I’m in heaven.” Poignant. Watch the video below.
