Not if you’re Denise Rossi.
After 25 years of marriage, she suddenly demanded a divorce from her husband Thomas. And she wanted it quick. The news was a shock to Thomas, who says they’d never had marital problems.
During divorce proceedings, it came to light that Mrs. Rossi had won $1.3 million in the California lottery just days before filing divorce. Her attempt to hide this money from Thomas was seen by the court as an act of “fraud or malice,” and the judge handed her winnings (all of them) to her ex-husband. Oops.
