The rapper, born Tracy Marrow, is best known for his role as one of the founding fathers of gangsta rap. But many of his fans don’t realize the former thief and pimp also served our country.
Ice-T says he enlisted when he was just 19, out of a lack of other opportunities. He knew he’d end up in jail if he continued his illegal behavior so did the responsible thing and joined the Army, where he spent four years in the infantry until his big break into hip-hop.
