
6. Jimi Hendrix
Legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix enlisted in the Army in 1961, after being given a choice between the military or jail time when he was caught stealing two cars. He was stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky and discharged due to an injury in 1962.
Hendrix’s platoon sergent once filed a report about the rocker: “He has no interest whatsoever in the Army … It is my opinion that Private Hendrix will never come up to the standards required of a soldier. I feel that the military service will benefit if he is discharged as soon as possible.”
