
10. Dr. Seuss wasn’t his real name
This one is pretty commonly known, but it bears repeating. Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on March 2, 1904, in Springfield, Massachusetts.

While studying at Dartmouth College, Geisel became the editor-in-chief of the school’s humor magazine, called the Jack-O-Lantern. He was kicked off the magazine staff after being caught drinking (this was during Prohibition) but wanted to continue his contributions to the publication. The pseudonym “Seuss” was born, and he used it professionally for the rest of his life.
