9. He wasn’t really a doctor

Dr. Seuss was not actually a doctor of anything. In fact, he did not have a doctorate until Dartmouth, his alma mater, granted him one in 1956. He added the “Dr.” to his writing name name because his father had always hoped he’d end up getting a doctorate and becoming a professor.
