11. Beer tsunami
In 1814, a vat of beer ruptured at the Meux and Company Brewery in London.
This vat contained 323,000 gallons (1,470,000 L) of beer — no small amount. The pressure caused other vats in the brewery to burst, which led to massive flooding. The tidal wave of beer took out two homes, a pub, killed a woman and her daughter during tea service, and crashed through a funeral wake.
Hopefully, the fumes helped ease the pain of those affected by the flooding.
