Social scientists and archaeologists have found that clutter has a negative affect on mood and well-being. There’s actually a physical connection between high cortisol (the bad stress hormone) levels in people who have cluttered homes.

Want to let go of clutter but are not sure where to start? Try the tidying method made famous by Japanese cleaning guru Marie Kondo. Essentially, Kondo states that if your “stuff” makes you happy or sparks joy, then keep it. If not, get rid of it.
