6. Show Me a Hero
“Show Me a Hero” is an American miniseries available on HBO. The period drama is based on a nonfiction book about Yonkers’ Mayor Nick Wasicsko as he took office in 1987 and had to build public housing in the white, middle class side of the town.
Star Oscar Isaac won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Limited Series or Motion Picture Made for Television. Rotten Tomatoes calls the show “an impressively crafted period drama whose timely themes prove as absorbing as its engaging, compassionately drawn characters.”
